Inline Detonation Flame Arrester: Elbow Type 90°
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester approved to EN ISO 16852 as Elbow Type (90°)
Deflagration = Explosion propagating at subsonic velocity
Detonation = Explosion propagating at supersonic velocity and characterized by a shock wave
Inline detonation flame arrester prevents a flame propagation to the protected side in case of deflagration and detonation of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures.
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester: Explanation
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester – Elbow Type (90°): Explanation
Deflagration = Explosion propagating at subsonic velocity
Detonation = Explosion propagating at supersonic velocity and characterized by a shock wave
Inline detonation flame arresters are fitted with two pipe connections, one on each side of the flame arrester. Inline detonation flame arresters are designed to prevent the transmission of a detonation (explosion propagate at supersonic velocity).
Ignited explosive gas mixture will propagate through the pipe in direction to e.g. storage tank. With pipe length the speed of flame will increase. Up to a certain pipe length / pipe inside diameter ratio, the flame propagate changes from subsonic speed (Deflagration) to supersonic speed (Detonation).
The Elbow type (90 °) design of inline detonation flame arrester saves a pipe bend compared to the concentric or eccentric design and allows easy access to the flame arrester element during maintenance.
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester: Concentric
Inline detonation flame arrester are designed to prevent the transmission of a detonation (explosion propagating at super sonic velocity). Inline flame arresters are fitted with two pipe connections, one on each side of the flame arrester.
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester: Eccentric Type
Eccentric type inline detonation flame arresters in horizontal installation are preventing condensate accumulation inside of the arrester.
Inline Detonation Flame Arrester: Short Time Burning
Inline detonation flame arrester approved for stabilized burning for specified time. For detection of a stabilized flame a PT100 temperature sensor mounted on the unprotected side is necessary! When a stabilized flame is detected an action within 30 seconds has to be carried out which ensures a safe quenching of the flame. (E.g. stopping the gas flow)
Inline Detonation Flame Arrestr: Endurance Burning
Inline detonation flame arrester approved for stabilized burning for unlimited time.
