Flame Arresters for Petrol and Diesel Fuels Containing Ethanol:<\/strong><\/p>

Worldwide the blending of petrol and diesel fuels with ethanol is in common.<\/p>

Petrol Ethanol Blends e.g. E85, E90 or ED95
<\/strong><\/p>

The characteristic of petrol changes as soon mixed with ethanol. The flash point of petrol is at < -20\u00b0C and for ethanol at +12\u00b0C. Even with a small admixture of ethanol in petrol the flash point of the blend changes. With change of flash point the vapours are easier to ignite. Consequently, vapours of petrol ethanol blends are easier to ignite than pure petrol vapours. Therefore, protection concept of petrol ethanol blend supply has to be reconsidered.<\/p>

Diesel Ethanol Blends e.g. Diesohol <\/strong><\/p>

Flash point of diesel is >+55\u00b0C according to EN 590 and for ethanol at +12\u00b0C. Even with a small admixture of ethanol in diesel the ethanol vapours concentration over the diesel liquid will increase. Vapours in storage tank and the entire piping will contain ethanol. Together with fresh air through the vent\u00a0ignitable gas is create.<\/p>

Consequently, vapours of diesel ethanol blends are much easier to ignite than diesel vapours. Therefore, storage tank and installation for diesel ethanol blends has to be protected against flame entering in the pipe work, independent of ethanol amount in diesel liquid.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Pressure Release Valve – <\/strong>Expansion of Occupational Safety:<\/strong><\/p>

In many countries, pressure \/ vacuum valves are required on vent lines.<\/p>

Pressure in storage tank change through temperature differences (day and night), deliveries of liquid, vapour recovery Stage IB, vapour recovery Stage II and so on.<\/p>

As soon the piping to storage tank is open e.g. for delivery, maintenance, repair the pressurized gas in the storage system will escape. In general, the pressure in storage system is low, but the volume is large. With overpressure of e.g. 30 mbar in a 10,000 liter tank, 300 liters of benzene-containing vapors escape when the tank system is opened. The worker will be exposed to this fuel vapor several times a day.<\/p>

In order to improve working \/ health conditions at the petrol station, we offer a pressure relief valve.<\/strong><\/p>

Before opening the storage tank system, the tanker driver or station manager can release the tank pressure manually through the mechanical bypass valve. Fuel vapors are discharge\/upwards in open air far above the station. After releasing the pressure, the work at the station can start. Pressure release valve is closing automatically after releasing the gas to atmosphere.<\/p>

This expansion of occupational safety provides a safer and healthier environment for both the employees and members of public.<\/p>

The flame arrester between bypass and vent pipe is approved to EN ISO 16852. This flame arrester is protecting the storage tank in same way as it does the flame arrester under the pressure vacuum valve.<\/p>

In addition, despite the installed pressure \/ vacuum valve, when the pressure relief valve is open, the vapour recovery stage II can be calibrated without counter pressure.\u00a0<\/p>

Camlock Vapour Adapter with Poppet Valve and Flame Arrester<\/strong><\/p>

With vapor recovery stage IB – between petrol tanker and filling station –\u00a0 petrol vapors are returned to the tanker when fuel is delivered.<\/p>

Vapor recovery adapter with poppet valve approved as flame arrester to EN ISO 16852 is used to connect the tanker and vapour line and storage tank.<\/p>

We offer ATEX certified adapter designed at the unprotected side as a camlock father coupling (VKG) according to DIN EN 14420-7 and DIN EN 13081. Adapter is also approved as flame arrester and prevents a flame propagation during coupling processes or when vapour recovery hose has been removed.<\/p>

An integrated spring-loaded closing valve prevents gas escaping at this point after the gas displacement hose is disconnected.

<\/p>

Camlock vapour adapter is easy to install and is very well suited for retrofitting and re-equipment.<\/p>
